Since the night of time it has been evident that one of the most deeply rooted behaviors of humanity is the worship of deity.  Down through the ages human beings have developed innumerable ceremonies to ritualize the worship of deity in order to elevate this behavior above that of everyday living.  These rituals were usually practiced in synchronization with dates relevant to one or another time and culture.  For aeons, people carried out religious practices with little or no awareness of religious practices flourishing in other parts of the world.  All the while, each religion played its part in the science of invoking spiritual inspiration from deity.

We now live in a time of fertile cross-pollination of ideas from every field of life.  The 20th century opened and closed with the auspicious meetings of the World Council of Religions.  Comparative Religion is a subject now studied by people from all walks of life.  Many people are recognizing that we have more in common than we thought.  Many are also recognizing that the individual human being is capable of being a co-creator in the divine Plan.  And that just as the pooling of concrete resources on the physical plan gives added strength, so, too, does pooling one's thoughts on the spiritual plane give added strength to individual prayers and invocations.

At present, each religion has its own schedule of holidays and religious observations.  For example each spring at the time of the full moon of Aries, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ.  A month later, at the time of the full moon of Taurus, Buddhists celebrate the life and mission of Buddha through observation of the Wesak Festival.  The invocation of deity and the resultant inflow of uplifting spiritual energies at the time of these two major feast days, or festivals, is attested to by many followers of these faiths.

Consider the amplified effect of a unified, spiritual approach whereby Christians participate in the Wesak Festival and Buddhists in the Easter Festival. Consider the increased impact were this type of cross-pollination to occur not only during these 2 months, and not only between these 2 religions, but every month of the year, among people of all religions, or of no particular religious affiliation; indeed, by people of goodwill everywhere.

This, in a condensed presentation, is the idea behind "the twelve spiritual festivals".  The establishing of a uniform scheduling of spiritual festivals will aid us in strengthening the spiritual vitality and "livingness" of all religions, it will help all people of goodwill who strive to be of service in their chosen fields.  Observation of the twelve spiritual festivals is a natural result of the recognition that the sum total of the spiritual selves of each human being is greater than the different particularities of each religion.  For in observing the twelve spiritual festivals, we consciously invoke the aid of those spiritual Beings whose service is to help all humanity.  Their response has ever been sent out as spiritual energy which is registered as inspiration, illumination, revelation.

Observation of the twelve spiritual festivals will form the keystone of the coming new world religion.  For more information, see that article elsewhere on this website.

From the Point of Light within the Mind of God, let Light stream forth into human minds, let Light descend on Earth.   From the Point of Love within the Heart of God, let Love stream forth into human hearts, may the Coming One return to Earth.  From the center where the Will of God is known, let Purpose guide all little human wills, the Purpose which the Masters know and serve.  From the center which we call the human race, let the Plan of Love, and Light work out, and may it seal the door where evil dwells.  Let Light, and Love, and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
